In his book Holy Book and Holy People, You Bin challenges the methodology of positivism by the methodology of ＂a history of social memory＂. He focused on the problem ＂Who is Israel＂ and discussed the limitation of positivism. He made his interpretation to the Biblical text with the analy sis of the evidences from archaeology, extracanonical literatures, historical literary criticism and the theoretical model of sociology and anthropology. He also absorbed and evaluated the discoveries of biblical archaeology, which made his exploration and elaboration in his book vivid.
