臺灣科學圖畫書研究：以《漢聲小百科》為例

英文漢聲出版股份有限公司出版的《漢聲小百科》，動用龐大編輯群以三年的時間製作，是一套以本土題材為例的科學圖畫書，適合國小兒童閱讀。本套書共十二冊，按月份為單位，於1984年12月至隔年11月出版。推出後在當年以其新穎的製作方式，贏得小讀者的喜愛，並創下銷售佳績。這份研究由科學圖畫書的定義說起，並對《漢聲小百科》十二冊內容進行分析。研究內容包括此套書製作的時代背景、編輯製作取材方式、插畫與版面設計特色、文字表現、角色設定等探討。《漢聲小百科》擅長運用各種說明性的插圖，小讀者經由圖文配置的版面，對內容清晰易懂，並藉由虛構人物以漫畫造型出現，經故事情節，一步步由認識自我開始，拓展到家、臺灣、臺灣的山、森林、河流、海洋、中國、地球、生態環境、宇宙和未來等主題，將生硬冰冷題材，以活潑生動方式呈現，使一般小讀者能經由故事內容引發興趣，進而瞭解複雜的科學內涵。此種編輯方式，對臺灣科學圖畫書編輯，提供了參考範例。

Published by Han-Shen Magazines Corporation in Taiwan, Han-Shen Encyclopedia for Kids was edited by an enormous group of local writers, illustrators and editors. This series is a scientific picture books whose contents are based on local scientific issues and which are very good for school age children. There are 12 volumes in this series which were published monthly from Dec. 1984 to Nov. 1985. As its novel and up-to-date ways of style, this series has been very popular with children, and succeeded in sales volume. This study will discuss the meaning of scientific picture books, and analyze the content of the 12-volume series, including the background of publishing, ways of editorial process, illustration, style, texts, role setting, etc.. Among these, analyzing illustration and style is the most important part of this research. Good at illustration, Han-Shen Encyclopedia for Kids makes up some comic rolls who introduce scientific knowledge for children readers. According to texts, readers learn their homeland - mountains, forests, rivers. ocean., as well as China, the Earth, the whole living environment, the universe, and the human future. Writers and editors made this difficult topic interesting and rich and easy to read. Such editorial style provides editors of scientific picture books in Taiwan a good reference.
