台灣需要什麼樣的多元文化兒童文學？重新定義台灣的多元文化兒童文學架構

摘要

一般人想到「多元文化「(multi-culture)」這個概念，第一個直覺反應，都只從「種族(race)」或「性別(gender)」這兩個面向切入，這也是為何大部份學者引用多元文化理論時，仍侷限於法農及薩依德的「後殖民理論」或女性主義論述。依照傳統的多元文化定義，能納入多元文化教育的兒童與青少年文學也僅限於與種族文化或性別角色相關的主題。然而，近年來，美國多元文化教育論述已朝種族與性別以外的其他面向探討，而台灣社會也發展出有別於美國社會的豐富多元小文化，因此，如果能重新探討適用於台灣社會之多元文化面向，將可為兒童與青少年文學在多元文化教育中的應用開啟一道更寬廣的大門。基於上述原因，本論文從社會科學與教育領域的觀點出發，以美國的多元文化教育論述發展為基礎，配合對台灣社會的現況觀察，提出一個適用於台灣社會的多元文化結構，包含的小文化面向為種族、國籍、語言、特殊性、學習風格、性別、宗教、年齡、家庭狀況(包含家庭結構與社經地位)。此外，本論文也以這個多元文化結構為骨架，發展出一個適用於台灣社會的多元文化兒童文學架構。

In this paper, I propose a framework of multi-culture children's and young adult literature for the pluralistic Taiwan society, which includes the micro-culture dimensions: ethnicity (race, nationality, and language), gender, family status (family types and socio-economic status), religion, exceptionality, learning styles, and age. I also discuss the need for certain topics and genres of children's and young adult literature that address the multi-cultural issues in Taiwan.
