願景是成員對組織未來發展所擁有的夢想與抱持的企圖;使命則描繪著該組織所屬的產業、所服務的顧客、所希望發展的智能,藉以達成公司所設定的願景。願景與使命的訂定不僅仰賴高層主管的價值觀與對外界環境的認知,更必須靠組織成員的熱情參與和共識凝聚。元智大學學務處自2005年10月起,歷經一年半的全員參與,擬定出策略願景與使命宣言,該處願景是「蘊育世界公民與活力領袖的成長樂園」,使命為「創造充滿生活智慧與溫暖互助的成長環境,以激發潛能的豐沛挑戰,來蘊育具備多元智能、美感創意、健康快樂、社會關懷的世界公民與活力領袖」。本行動研究將說明其願景與使命的型塑過程,並據此討論學務工作的發展趨勢。
Vision is the people's shared dream for a company; and a mission describes what industry a company stands at, who the customers are, and what capabilities are to be developed. The establishment of vision and mission not only reflects the value of high management and the comprehension toward external environment, but also needs the full participation and common agreement from all people in the organization. From October 2005, the office of student affairs of Yuan Ze University spent 18 months to evolve its strategic vision and mission statement. The vision is defined as: "To establish a felicitous environment for nurturing global citizens and energetic leaders". The mission statement is as follows: "To create a challenging environment that fosters life wisdom and mutual caring, and stimulates students' potentials, so as to nurture global citizens and energetic leaders equipped with multiple intelligences, esthetic creativity, health, happiness, and a social conscience". On the basis of the vision and mission, this action research then elaborates the trends for the student-affair works in higher education in Taiwan.
