The Smart Manufacturing Data Value-Added Alliance, established in 2017, aims to promote equipment communication standards and equipment data value-added services, and ultimately to accelerate the development of smart manufacturing capability for Taiwan industries. This paper aims to explain how this alliance strategically selects international mainstream equipment communication protocols and information models; as well as how to set up a number of special interest groups, which are led by industry leaders so as to work together to develop and promote Taiwan equipment communication protocol and information model standards to enhance the international competitiveness of Taiwan's equipment industry.
