The development of shexue in the Ming dynasty was affected by political, economic and academic factors as well as the quality of education it provided. Politically, the primary education policy of the Ming government and officials at all levels attached to the shexue exerted a direct, positive influence on the development of shexue. Economically, the establishment of shexue was affected by two factors, namely the agricultural policy and local economy. Poverty was largely responsible for preventing the shexue in the Ming dynasty from becoming popular. Academic influence was exerted in two ways. First, intellectual-officials tried to spread their own academic preferences through the shexue they set up, and in tills way developed the shexue. Second, as the primary education theory gained depth, it brought a positive influence on its practice. Finally, the quality of the shexue itself is also a factor leading to development or decline, for example, educational objectives, the quality of the teachers, etc.
