The Impact of Indigenous Tourism on the Tribe-Case by Laiji in Taiwan

摘要


The purpose of this study is to analyze the economic, environmental, and socio-cultural impact on the indigenous tribe in the tourism development. In this study, the Laiji tribe as object, located at Alisan, Chiayi County, Taiwan, and qualitative research method was used. After analysis, this study has the following findings: 1. In economic, the positive impact is to increase job opportunities and income, and a negative impact is to increase the gap between rich and poor residents. 2. In environmental, the positive impact was tribal public facilities and appearance improved, but the negative impact is tourists brought garbage, noise and damage to the natural environment. 3. In socio-cultural, the positive impact is cultural continuity and preservation, while the negative impact of the change in the traditional values of the residents. According to the results of the above analysis, this study not only provides the suggestion to other tribes for tourism development planning, but also to make recommendation for future researchers' orientation on the tribal tourism study.
