台灣國際電視新聞的小報化

摘要

近年來商業模式逐漸成為全球電視新聞的經營主流，激烈競爭導致電視新聞出現小報化的趨勢。本研究以台灣商業與公共電視台的晚間新聞為例，發展出內容小報化（content tabloidization）與形式小報化（format tabloidization）的測量指標，以檢視台灣電視國際新聞的小報化現象。研究結果顯示，單以新聞主題而言，台灣國際電視新聞超過六成仍以傳統嚴肅新聞報導為主，小報化主題出現的頻率並不像一般台灣閱聽人印象那樣高。但犯罪災難、人情趣味、影視娛樂、及運動新聞等主題均有上升趨勢，且公共電視在國際新聞的報導上也出現有相當比例的小報化程度。如果進一步考慮新聞角度，完全不含小報化角度的傳統或硬性新聞下降為47.1%。換句話說，有兩成的國際新聞雖為硬性新聞的主題，但卻是以小報化的角度進行報導。本研究主要限制在於樣本超過六成以上來自公共電視，公共電視與台灣其他的新聞頻道，差異極大。因此，若要將研究結果推論至台灣整體電視新聞環境，需要非常謹慎。

This study intends to investigate the tabloidization phenomena in international news in two Taiwan television stations, TVBS, a commercial 24 hours news channel, and PTS, the Public Broadcast Service in Taiwan. We content-analyzed a total of 221 international news stories and generated the following finding. First, political topics appeared to dominate Taiwan’s international TV news, though tabloid topics such as disasters, scandals, human interests, entertainment, and sports news also occupied a large proportion. Secondly, commercial stations were more vulnerable to tabloid news material both in news topics and news perspective than public stations. Thirdly, visual packaging techniques such as background music or computer animations were not often employed in international news in Taiwan. Finally, news of developed countries and developing countries had higher degrees of tabloidization than less developed countries.
