Venerable Master Hsing Yun follows the model of "modernity" to promote Humanistic Buddhism. He hopes to build a Pure Land on earth, however, without denying the traditional Pure Land thoughts. Abiding by the Buddha's teachings, Venerable Master Hsing Yun uses modern languages to interpret Pure Land thoughts. Firstly, Venerable Master Hsing Yun contrasts real life experiences of suffering and adversity to the solemnity of the Western Pure Land. Secondly, Venerable Master Hsing Yun selects commonly known concepts such as "environmentally friendly" and "management" to metaphorically represent the Amitabha Buddha's vows and merits in establishing Pure Land. Furthermore, Venerable Master Hsing Yun uses "Western Pure Land" as the blueprint for "Pure Land on earth", giving some practical guidelines for establishing Pure Land and at the same time, creating "Fo Guang Pure Land" as a concrete practice.
