The paper discusses the doctrinal relationship between the concept of mokṣa (liberation) in Buddhism and Humanistic Buddhism as promoted by Venerable Master Hsing Yun. Through the classic Samyuktāgama Sutra, the form and content of mokṣa is sorted out, as well as the world of life from a Buddhist perspective. Additionally, a method of practice is given for all living creatures to be liberated from the sufferings of the world. After a discussion on these concepts, this paper moves on to examine whether Humanistic Buddhism, on the example of Venerable Master Hsing Yun's writings and explanation, is consistent to the above system and thought of mokṣa. It is expected that the result could be a reference when practicing as a Buddhist in this mortal world.
