近代史地理資訊平臺的設計、建置與應用案例
Modern History Geographic Information Service: Design, Development, and Applications
摘要
本文旨在介紹中央研究院近代史研究所「近代史地理資訊平臺」（Modern History Geographical Information Service, MHGIS）的設計思路與建置方式，並以三個案例介紹平臺可能的使用情境，及其潛在的貢獻，期能對未來相似專案的規劃與執行有所助益。平臺的宗旨在於透過地理資訊技術，將關於空間的史料，轉化為易於使用的空間資訊。本文將分為「歷史地圖」、「向量圖資」、「應用案例」三部分介紹。「歷史地圖」依其工作流程，分為界定資料蒐集範圍、歷史地圖的管理與後設資料、蒐集結果的統計、歷史地圖的呈現與入口網頁設計等節介紹。「向量圖資」依其內容，分為上海圖資、其他城市圖資、鐵路圖資、其他圖資等節介紹。應用案例則有：以「王韜、譚延闓遊蹤」，介紹向量圖資與文字史料的交互參照；以《自貢市市區圖》（自貢市市政籌備處，1939），介紹單一地圖的精讀；以「1936年上海電車路線與都市土地利用型態」，介紹多來源圖資的綜合應用三例。本文最後並對平臺的建置，提出了檢討與展望。

This article introduces the design and implementation of the Modern History Geographical Information Service (MHGIS), which is a project of the Institute of Modern History, Academia Sinica. This article also presents three case studies to show the possible use of the platform and its potential contribution. The platform aims to transform historical material into spatial information through geographic information technology. This article contains three sections: Historical Maps, Vector Data, and Applications. The section on Historical Maps includes defining the extent of data collection, managing historical maps and metadata, statistics of results, presentation, and the design of portal page. The section on Vector Data covers data from Shanghai, data from other cities, railway data, and others. The Section on Applications covers three examples: First, using the travels of Wang Tao (王韜) and Tan Yankai (譚延闓) to introduce cross-referencing between spatial data and historical text. Second, using The Plan of Zigong (The municipal preparatory office of Zigong, 1939) to demonstrate close reading of a single map. Third, using the 1936 Shanghai tram route and land-use data to introduce the integrated application of multiple spatial data. This article concludes with a review and outlook on the development.
