The effectiveness of student learning has been taken more attentions in modern education. It is urgent to establish a regular self-evaluation mechanism by the department in order to enhance student learning outcomes. In this study, Taguchi loss functions and analytic hierarchy process (AHP) were employed to construct a self-evaluation model to evaluate the learning effect for Chinese reading and writing of freshmen. An example was used to demonstrate the model's working. It can be a reference for researchers and other related courses faculty who want to promote students' learning effect.
