What is the meaning of scientific and biblical story of creation for us humans? Actually, they are both concerning about retrodiction. Confidence in the validity of the retrodiction in the scientific story and confidence in the retrodiction in the biblical story are both grounded in faith. Moreover, the two metaphors serve to raise questions that guide our quests for meaning. That is, the most basic issue are: How can we invest our world as understood by science and theology with meaning and how to reflect the character of the creator God: freedom, intentionality, and love. Another, "playing God," should not deter us from shouldering our responsibility for the future. To seek a better future is to "play human" as God intends us to. The concept of the created co-creator we invoke is a cautious but creative Christian concept that begins with a vision of openness to God's future and responsibility for the human future.
