Reading Children's literature from the Perspective of Eco-aesthetics

摘要

This paper introduces the content of eco-aesthetics and the importance of eco-aesthetic literacy to adolescents. It interprets the American children's literature work ＂The Education of Little Tree＂ from the nature perspective of the view of eco-aesthetics, eco-aesthetic lifestyle, and eco-aesthetic attitude. This paper finally puts forward the significance of reading American children's Literature from the perspective of eco-aesthetics. Eco-aesthetics is a kind of aesthetics containing ecological dimension, which includes not only natural aesthetics but also art and life aesthetics which are above the natural dimension. Eco-aesthetics is a way of cultivation and behavior habit that every citizen should develop from childhood. Studying American children's literature from the perspective of eco-aesthetics will promote the free and harmonious ecological view in children's spiritual field, cultivate children's eco-aesthetic interest and eco-aesthetic feeling, so as to equip them with eco-aesthetic abilities such as green reading and ecological art, elevate their quality and perfect their personality. ＂The Education of Little Tree＂ is a classic American children's literature work written by American writer Forrest Carter (Forrest Carter, 1925-1979). The Five-Year-old Indian kid, after the death of his parents, started a new life in the Deep Mountains with his grandparents. His new life was full of exploration and adventure, laughter and tears, and, of course, victories and setbacks. His grandparents used Indian way to tell Little Tree the rules of nature. They do not have much preaching but let Little Trees feel the beauty of nature, appreciate nature's gifts to human and learn how to observe the laws of nature, how to treat animals equally and respect nature through the practice of hunting, brewing, fishing and so on. Little Tree grew healthily and happily in the mountainous area, but his life had been questioned by the civilized society. The ＂natural education＂ Little Tree accepted in the mountainous area and the ＂Curriculum education＂ esteemed by the white formed an intense contrast in this novel. The story of Little Tree is simple and plain, but between the lines is filled with true love, sprinkled with warmth, shining with the wisdom of eco-aesthetics and enlightening the human mind.
