Morality and ethics have high achievement in Chinese culture. Every child has opportunity to accept this cultural discipline. In order to review major points of Chinese morality and ethics, and their influence on Chinese children's behavior, the researcher planned this study. From views of education and psychology, the pre-school years are the best time for education, for most of the behaviors and habits are formed during this period. So this study was begining with the theoritical review followed with observations. The researcher observed moral behaviors displayed by little children from three to five years old in kindergartens. Twenty public and private kindergartens in Taipei municipal city were selected. Observation period was from the ninth of November in 1983 to the twenty-third of January in 1984. Fourty-two classes were observed. The observer accompanied with children belonging to three kinds of groups while they were learning, playing or working. Eleven moral items to be observed were: filial piety and brotherly harmony, honesty, benevolence, friendly with neighbors, sincerity and righteousness, cooperation, service, curtsey, lawabiding, diligence and being patriotic. Concrete behavioral displays were devised from these items for observation. Results were obtained as follows: 1. Children's moral behavioral displays increase as age increase. 2. Children's moral behaviors have less relation with their family social economic status. 3. Negative moral behaviors occur more among younger children than old children. In general, most of the children are active, easy to cooperate with and help others, sociable with others, even with strangers. They seem to be self-confident, independent and acting ease.
