With the continuous in‐depth study of English teaching in my country, in order to better cultivate children's interest in English at the primary level, form good learning habits, and improve learning efficiency, English picture books have gradually become important materials for primary school English teaching. However, the article field investigation and research found that the actual English picture book teaching situation is not satisfactory, and there are many problems in the current teaching situation, such as the inefficient use of picture books, insufficient students' interest, and improper teaching methods of teachers. In response to these problems, the article analyzes the reasons from multiple angles, and uses constructivist teaching theory to build a bridge between picture book teaching materials and the core literacy of English subjects in order to propose specific countermeasures.
