教师在职进修:马来西亚华文独立中学的经验

In-Service Teacher Training: The Experience of Malaysian Chinese Independent High Schools

摘要


教师在职进修是教师专业发展中不可或缺的环节。若说教育学程的目的是职前教师基础能力的培育,则教师在职进修着重的就是教师在职因应大环境改变的教育、教学能力的提升。因此,教师在职进修更具艰难性和挑战性。马来西亚是中国、港澳及台湾地区以外,保留学前教育、小学、中学及高校等完整华文教育体系的东南亚国家。目前,马来西亚有1200余所华文小学,60所华文独立中学以及3所由华人社会长期资助的高等学府。依循历史发展的轨迹,因应大环境的变迁,造就马来西亚华文独立中学在教师在职进修方面,逐渐形成既得借助外部资源又能本土培育的双轨模式。本文就近年新纪元学院办理独中教师在职进修课程,包括基于“专业基础”的教育专业文凭课程、基于“专业成长”的校本培训或短期课程,以及基于“专业研究”的硕士博士课程等,从中探析独中教师在职进修的意涵与理念、现状与困境、课程与特点、趋势与改进,从而为马来西亚华文独立中学及东南亚华文教育教师的在职进修提供实质、可操作性的参考。

In-service training is an essential part of the personal development of teachers. Its purpose is to improve their competence and ability to cope with the latest trends in education. In-service training is not without its own problems and challenges. This study presents a critical overview of the teaching training programmes that are managed by New Era College, Malaysia. Chinese secondary education in Malaysia has evolved a model of in-service training in collaboration with foreign universities to serve local needs. Focus of attention is placed on the current situation in teaching training in Chinese schools, its major characteristics, constraints, issues and emerging trends. The overall experience derived from the training programmes will provide a useful reference and guidance on the implementation and management of teacher training in Malaysia and other countries of Southeast Asia.
