After 20 years of tortuous explorations and repeated verifications, the Independent Chinese Secondary Schools of Malaysia reached a consensus in the understanding of "segregated" and "integrated" science and their relations and, having assessed the value of an integrated science curriculum, finally decided to launch integrated science education at the Junior high school level in 60 schools in 2014. These schools are now ready to deal with the practical problems that may have arisen, and doing so with due reference to changes and reform in the world of science education.
