This article investigates the possibility of ordaining women as deacons from the perspective of Canon Law, while following the direction of the "Study Commission on the Women's Diaconate" established by Pope Francis on August 2nd, 2016. On the one hand, this article explores biblical accounts of women deacons, ritual books before the 12th century, the ministry of the Carthusian nuns who are in charge of the liturgy, the rite of conferring the stole from the bishop on the Carthusian nuns and compares the rite of consecration of Virgins with that of the contemporary deaconate ordination. On the other hand, this article seeks to illustrate the different services of deacons, bishops, and priests by distinguishing the deaconate with the priesthood in accordance with the teachings of the Second Vatican Council. This article ends with the author's recommendations for the possibility of women deacons.
