摘要

對於中國佛教發展歷史的新形態──人間佛教，對其八十多年來的學思歷程，佛教界及佛教學界頗多論述。在所有這些論述中，述及理論問題甚多。本人最為關注則是二個一。此即人間佛教與傳統中國佛教的關係為何？人間佛教與當代中國佛教發展的關係如何？前一問題，可以歸結為「人間佛教的歷史性」。後一追問，則為「人間佛教的時代性」。其實，這二個問題又可更進一步還原為人間佛教與中國傳統的宋派佛教之關係。或者說，人間佛教的超宗派性，是否可能導致人間佛教的「非中國性」。但通過檢討歷史上相關人間佛教理論的闡釋性建構過程，人間佛教理論本身所涵蓋的「人間性」，實際上已經涵蓋了某種程度的人間佛教的「中國性」。當然，人間佛教作為中國佛教演進的新形態，同時也涉及人間佛教的「佛教性」問題。

There have been quite a number of studies on Humanistic Buddhism and a lot of aspects have been covered. What I concern is twofold: how humanistic Buddhism relates Chinese Buddhism? And what humanistic Buddhism could offer for the future development of Chinese Buddhism. The former question connects Humanistic Buddhism with the past, while the second with its contemporary features, they both can be induced to a question of how Humanistic Buddhism relates sectarian traditions of Chinese Buddhism.
