台灣網際網路廠商之策略、組織與領導之個案研究

Yahoo!奇摩在台灣的網際網路產業佔有舉足輕重的地位,不僅在入口網站的重要服務包括搜尋、電子信箱和新聞等都是市場的領導者,它同時擁有最大的社群網站無名小站,並且在電子商務方面方包括拍賣與購物都有非常好的市場表現。相對於總部位於美國的Yahoo!,Yahoo!奇摩在台灣的績效表現更為突出。在一個新興且商業模式快速演變的網際網路服務產業環境裡,Yahoo!奇摩在經營策略、組織文化與領導風格的發展,成為本研究擬聚焦討論的議題。 本研究首先針對網際網路服務產業的演進進行跨時的探討,其後再針對個案公司Yahoo!奇摩在策略、組織與領導層面上的跨時演進與發展,進行關鍵成功因素的分析與歸納。本研究時間涵蓋從2000年到2010年4月,主要訪談對象則以Yahoo!奇摩高階主管為主,最後佐以次級資料、相關文獻探討與訪談內容,形成本研究的結論。 本研究歸納Yahoo!奇摩的經營成功關鍵因素包括:併購決策與購後整合、推動平台策略、發展電子商務與定位單一品牌等四方面。在組織文化及領導團隊方面,領導人給了正確的方向及目標,在內部組織有良好的溝通,並能排除外部障礙,且全力推動執行。另外,Yahoo!奇摩團隊的執行力與責任感也是策略執行的成功關鍵。

Yahoo!Kimo (Y!K) plays a significant role in the development of Internet industry in Taiwan. It not only leads in Search, Email and News, but also has the most popular blog site Wretch (無名小站). Its e-commerce business including both C2C Auctions and B2C Shopping are competitive in the Internet service market as well. Indeed, Y!K outperforms any other Yahoo! subdidiary businesses in the world. Such a local success indeed motivates the present research. Specifically, our research focuses on the evolutionary development of competitive strategies, organizational culture, and leadership of Y!K within the context of fast changing Internet industry in Taiwan. Based on secondary industry information covering from the year of 2000 to April of 2010 and in-depth interviews with four sernior mangers/leaders of Y!K, we are able to inductively conclude the key success factors of the Internet industry and success drivers of Y!K. Out research revealed that the successful development of Y!K hinges upon four areas of decisions and actions, including merger and acquisition (M&A) strategy, platform strategy, ecommerce strategy and unified branding strategy. In addition, strategic leaders set clear directions and goals, supports with processes facilitating open and interactive communications in the organization so that the organization is able to overcome external obstacles and reaches its goals. Last but not the least, the management team in Y!K has excellent execution capabilities and accountability which all together make Y!K a successful contender in the Internet industry.
