日常國族性:跨國K-pop場域中臺灣粉絲的實作

Everyday Nationhood: The Practices of Taiwanese Fandom in Transnational K-pop Field

摘要


本研究透過新興的「藝人偶像國族爭議」現象,考察台灣K-pop粉絲的國族實作,來探究國族和國族主義,是如何出現在看似跨國、追求無國界對偶像共同支持的追星場域中。本研究透過訪談30位台灣K-pop粉絲,我指出國族如何在日常(ordinary)範疇中靜默運作,日常實作又如何作為加熱機制、催化了火熱國族主義透過非凡事件(extraordinary events)的具現而登場。本文的研究發現如下:首先,我討論了國族在追星場域中被召喚出來、進而被生產∕再生產的方式。我指出在追星場域中台灣和中國粉絲之間的六種衝突和抵抗協商情境,以及台灣粉絲所產生的一套「政治化的去政治」期望論述。台灣粉絲藉由想像自己被召喚代表整體台灣粉絲,以及藉由辨識出互動情境中具有族群標誌作用的顯著類別,從而召喚出國族,國族的言說和互動框架開始出現在追星場域中。繼而,台灣粉絲藉由「談論國族話題」、「國族地消費產品」、和「展演國族」方式生產和再生產國族,從而使得原本看似與國族無涉的追星場域,充滿了國族與國族主義的互動。同時,台灣粉絲發展出「政治化的去政治」期望論述,他們期望自己與偶像都是政治知情(informed)的,但出於避免衝突,必須在表現與作為上是去政治的。透過這套「政治化的去政治」論述,粉絲們重新定義了他們所認為追星場域中應有的「政治」樣貌為何。接著,我討論了國族如何在追星場域中被以日常和火熱的方式共構。我指出台灣粉絲交替使用「國族畫界」和「以國族畫界」兩種邏輯,對偶像和粉絲進行評價劃分的日常作為,他們將國族政治正確的偶像與粉絲指認為「好」,而國族政治不正確的偶像與粉絲,則被指認到「不好」的類別中。此外,在前述這些對國族主義具有加熱作用的日常實作基礎上,我繼而透過兩個極端案例「周子瑜國旗事件」和「賴冠霖『中國台灣』說」,來說明火熱國族主義登場的條件。從而,追星場域中的國族,一方面透過被召喚、生產∕再生產、以及對其他行動者的畫界工作,以日常國族主義的形式靜默運作;另一方面也透過火熱國族主義偶爾的登場,共構了國族和國族主義得以持續運作並再生產的可能。

This thesis aims to interrogate people’s actual practices of nations and nationalism in everyday life by examining the emergent “celebrity–involved national controversies” phenomena from the viewpoint of K-pop fans. By conducting 30 in-depth interviews, I point out the ways nations work as heating mechanism of nationalism in ordinary field, through which hot nationalism represents sporadically in form of extraordinary events. First, I discuss six conditions of conflicts, resistance and negotiations between Taiwanese and Chinese fans, during which a discourse of “politicized depoliticization” is formed. By imaging themselves as being called to represent the whole Taiwanese and Chinese fan communities respectively, recognizing the marked categories which work as ethnic markers, and practicing “talking about the nation”, “consuming products nationally” and “performing the nation”, fans invoke, produce and reproduce the nations in fandom field. Also, by narrating the discourse of “politicized depoliticization”, which implies the expectation that idols and themselves had better be political informed, but behave and perform depolitically so as to shun the potential conflicts, Taiwanes fans redefine the “politics” in fandom field. Second, I point out two national logics of demarcation used by Taiwanese fans, the “demarcation about the nation” and the “demarcation with the nation”, with which Taiwanese fans extol the fans and idols who behave in political correct way, and disparage ones who do not. Upon the aforementioned ordinary practices, I then introduce two nationalist events, “Chou Tzu-yu national flag conflict” and “Lai Kuan-lin ‘China Taiwan’ statement”, to exemplify how the hot nationalism represents and brings the mass into collective effervescence. Thus, by ordinary practices and extraordinary events, nations and nationalism are co-formed and maintained in the fandom field.
