並列摘要

Immersive technologies include augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), mixed reality (MR). Among these techniques, AR, VR, and MR are applied widely in different industries and have great potential for development in the future. Since there is no article discussing the critical technologies of immersive technology and its knowledge structure generated by patent citation analysis. Therefore, this paper examines the knowledge network of immersive technology that utilizes patent citation information to analyze technology knowledge flows. The knowledge network is constructed based on Cooperative Patent Classification (CPC) codes and firms' patent citation. The patent data related to immersive technology is collected from the USPTO database and a technology knowledge network with CPC classification code and a firm-firm knowledge network are constructed. The research results show that “G06F3/011” (arrangements for interaction with the human body) and “G06T19/006” (mixed reality object pose determination) are the two most critical technologies. In terms of immersive technology companies, we examined Microsoft is a knowledge keystone player in the industry and plays multiple brokerage roles in the immersive technology ecosystem. In this study, managers can choose an R&D alliance partners from technology knowledge players. Also, the company can understand the role of each player in the brokerage analysis to do M&A activity that can reduce the risk of R&D for technology investment. For this reason, we also suggest that companies can use the research findings to establish a unique and effective ecosystem strategy.
