Because of the progress of communication technology, sound identification has reached its maturity and it brings communication products with much more divergent contents. For intermediate-age and advance-age users, the enhanced operation complexity usually cannot make the said users comprehensively and smoothly operate communication products. A natural and direct operation interface like sound identification, theoretically, can help intermediate-age and advance-age users operate cell phones more comprehensively and conveniently. However, till now, there seems to be no significant effect like that happening. This research is mainly aimed to explore the reason why the said sound control interface cannot be widely applied so far and evaluate its applicability with our design principles proposed. From research results, we find the possible reasons that no intermediate-age and advance-age user adopting sound identification technology is because they never know that the said sound identification technology has been designed in cell phones already. Actually, there are few intermediate-age and advance-age users willing to understand novel techniques and technology aggressively. Except the problems about command memory, the sound control interface is really featured with higher applicability than that of conventional key-in interface. Based on the difficulties for intermediate-age and advance-age users to adopt sound control interface, we hereby propose the design principles as below: 1. The sound control function keys can be designed with the stand-alone style for operation convenience. 2. The critical commands shall be unifiedly arranged. 3. It is required to enhance the sound control database with better commanding operation triggered by frequently-used daily vocabulary. 4. The sound control interface shall be operated independently of no combination with conventional key-in interfaces.
