利用兩種nematic低分子液晶混合,誘導出smectic相;然後在混合一種具有偶氮苯官能基(BMAB)的光應答性低分子液晶,使其在紫外光的照射下,誘導出trans-cis光異性化行為,分子構造會從細長型的trans構造轉變成彎曲型的cis構造,在光學的現象上,產生了光散亂狀態;相反的,當我們照射可視光、施加熱源或施加高頻的交流電場時,其光應答性分子會從彎曲的cis構造轉變成原來細長型的trans構造,而光學性質也從光散亂狀態回到光透過的狀態。此狀態是一可逆的雙安定現象。在光透過與光散亂狀態中有一臨界頻率,此臨界頻率受到紫外光、可視光、熱與電場的外部刺激下,會有不同的變化。另外,在光應答性分子的排列秩序度方面,我們用偏極光的紫外光光譜儀了解到較強的紫外光強度與在較低的溫度下能誘導出較佳的排列效果。本研究的目的是利用紫外光的照射能將所需要的資料寫入而擦拭資料只需要施加高頻的交流電場,而不需要再施加熱源,能夠期待應用於光資訊讀寫的材料。
Low molecular weight liquid crystals mixture (HPPB/5OCB/E7), dope with azobenzene liquid crystal molecular(BMAB). Induced trans-cis photoisomerization of the azobenzene molecular by alternating irradiation with UV light and visible light (heat or electric field of high frequency) .This optical phenomenon is reversible change and bistable between a light-scattering state and a transparent state. The change of critical frequency of a transparent state and a light-scattering state by irradiation with UV light and visible light (heat or electric field of high frequency) . Photoinduced alignment of photosensitive LC by polarized UV spectra was studied. We are to study "writing" by irradiation with UV light and "erased" by using electric field of high frequency. This is expected to become a new type of "light value" exhibiting "writing", "erased" and memory effect.
