本研究探討企業在做研發策略的選擇時考量的因素與影響結果,以「企業所擁有的研發資源」、「委外的交易成本」、「決策者的特質」及「委外的風險」四個影響因素做為研究命題,再以這四個命題與蒐集的資料做比較及驗證,經過比較與驗證後若有新的發現,則將修正起始命題或推演出新的命題,以期得到最佳的解釋。 本研究以高科技產業-生物辨識產業廠商中之「A科技公司」為主要研究對象,該公司是將一向被企業當作核心技術的研發工作,採取委外研發策略且行之多年,個案公司原來預定要採行的研發策略為與外包廠商共同研發,後來是因為派去參與研發的人員離職了,所以最後才改成完全委外。在整個的過程中,個案公司是受了那些因素的影響,才做出了最後的決擇,而在做最後決策前是否有評估過其他的策略。本研究將對個案公司深入觀察及分析,希望能在個案研討中,獲得更詳盡的資訊。 本研究選擇單一個案做為研究對象,是因為此個案是一特殊個案,本研究之研究方法採個案訪談法,訪談方式為深入訪談及多次訪談,訪談對象為個案公司的決策團隊及負責研發的外包廠商。 本研究發現,其實影響企業研發策略選擇的因素很多,本研究依據四個研究命題更推演出五個新的影響因素,並在探討影響策略選擇的因素同時一并評估各種研發策略的績效,希望此一研究結果有助後續研究及實務應用。
This thesis explores factors that affect the ways a firm uses to develop a new product. From literatures, I find resources that firm own, amount of transaction cost, characteristics of decisions maker and the degree of outsourcing risks are the four main factors that firms consider in designing the research strategy. I use these four theories as my initial propositions, and use an extreme case to reevaluate the four propositions and try to find out other factors that affect firm’s strategy making. This unique case produce identity-distinguish machine. From the four initial propositions, most of the part of the research work should be developed in-house by the firm. But actually, the firm totally outsourced the whole project to a firm specialize in accepting consigned development project. So I conjecture the past literatures have missed some factors that affect the ways firms use to develop a new product. And this the purpose of this thesis. In this thesis, I use a single case study as our approach. My data are collected from multi-source, documents, personal observations, archival records, and interview. The interviewees are the decision group involved in the outsourcing, and I consignee. Each interviewee are visited many time for data corroboration. Additionally, I show addition five factor that affect firms decision making in developing a new product.
