With the rapid development of information technology of computer, internet, and digitization in recent years, teaching materials of the elementary schools have been gradually replaced by digital multimedia such as VCD, DVD etc. And application of computers and multimedia together has become more and more common. Thereafter, “digital learning” has been regarded as one effective method to increase teaching effect and to improve management of teaching resources. For new generation students living with lots of digital products, computers, internet, and games, the most effective learning could be achieved if electronic tools are used to provide matching styles of attractive and effective methods of teaching and learning. This research utilized a standard experimental methodology to examine the differences in learning performance and interests of the sixth grade elementary school students using the “mystery of earth” unit from the Science and Technology as an example. The “experiment group” of 2 classes with 70 students used Moodle digital learning platform in teaching. The “control group” of 1 class with 36 students used traditional teaching. The students’ learning processes were observed to analyze possible factors affecting the learning performance and attitude. These results would be used as references for teachers in incorporating digital learning into the teaching courses of elementary schools in the future. Conclusions derived after teaching experiments and statistical analysis include: 1.Digital learning could effectively increase learning performance of the sixth grade elementary school students. 2.Digital learning did not produce different learning performances between male and female students. 3.Digital learning could effectively increase the learning performance for both high-score and low-score groups of students. 4.Digital learning could effectively increase the learning interests and attitudes.
