《中國震撼世界》英譯中：台灣與中國大陸譯文比較研究

English-to-Chinese translation of China Shakes the World：A Comparative Study of Taiwan and China Versions

摘要

本論文旨在探討傑克‧貝爾登(Jack Belden)著《中國震撼世界》(China Shakes the World)中的第十一及十二章之大陸譯本及台灣譯本，並運用勞倫斯‧韋努蒂（Lawrence Venuti）歸化異化理論，及其他相關的翻譯理論，進行比較研究及評析。
本論文共分五章，第一章敘述筆者研究此論文之動機、目的及方法，第二章文獻探討，介紹作者及其著作、譯者及其譯作、著作與譯作的歷史背景、以及筆者所使用的翻譯理論剖析。第三章 從歸化與異化觀點比較《中國震撼世界》台灣與大陸譯本，說明運用歸化理論使譯文順暢，及運用異化理論，使譯文達到、忠實、精確原則。台灣譯者優於大陸譯者，較能靈活運用，歸化異化的翻譯策略， 符合中文讀者習慣用語，大陸譯者極喜運用歸化法，天馬行空，脫離原文形式的翻譯。第四章 說明常見專有名詞音譯，運用翻譯技巧使譯文達到精確及完整。第五章為結論，敘述本論文研究後，台灣譯者優於大陸譯者，運用歸化異化的翻譯策略，譯文通順、符合台灣讀者閱讀習慣。
由於《中國震撼世界》的內容及歷史背景，多發生在中國與台灣，筆者希望本論文對筆譯研究領域有所貢獻之外，也希望讓讀者能從外國作家的著作，來進一步了解，當時中國與台灣的歷史。本論文後面附錄一、二、三，為筆者對原作中第十一章《內戰》及十二章《失樂園》所作之譯文。

This thesis discusses Chapter 11 and Chapter 12 translations of China Shakes the World written by Jack Belden, comparing the versions published in Taiwan and Mainland China versions.Lawrence Venuti’s translation theory and related techniques are applied to compare and analyze the above-mentioned translation versions.
This thesis was divided into five chapters. The first chapter includes the author’s motivation, purpose and method for this thesis. The second chapter is literature review, including Jack Belden and his works , the translator and their tanslations, related historical background as well as theoretical analysis. In third chapter, domestication and foreignization point of views are used to compare Taiwan’s and the Mainland China’s translations, indicating the use of domestication theory makes fluent translations, and the use of foreignization theory makes the translations achieve precision. The fourth Chapter discuss term’s transliteration of terms will obtain foreignization and utilize skills to produce the precision and completeness of their translations.The last chapter is conclusion, providing the findings of this study and Taiwan’s translator better than Mainland China’s translator.
Because the setting of the events is in Mainland China, some historical factors are discussed in this thesis, it is the hoped that the research will be useful for readers to not only understand how to translate historical works in but also have a better understanding of Chinese Civil War and its relations to Taiwan history. Thesis’s appendix are my translations of Chapter 11th and 12th from China Shakes the World, index of English to Chinese and Chinese to English terms appear in this book.
