近年來,全球旅遊觀光事業發展益顯蓬勃,隨之而來就是對英語旅遊資料的需求,但國內的英文旅遊資料仍以中文為源語版本進行翻譯,導致產生許多的翻譯問題。再者,針對旅遊資料翻譯問題的研究,現階段以大陸方面為多數,台灣方面的研究仍屬少數,當中主題多圍繞在「跨文化溝通」或「翻譯策略運用」的研究上。也有學者以德國功能翻譯理論中Reiss的「文本類型理論」或Vermeer的「目的論」為基礎,進行譯文的分析研究。基於網站上英文版本的翻譯問題與台灣學界在此方面的研究太少,本論文以「功能目的論」為研究理論基礎,針對台灣交通部觀光局旅遊網站之中、英文資料,進行原文與譯文間的比對及分析,檢視旅遊網站中的英文資料是否能符合「連貫」、「忠實」法則的標準。研究發現,網站中的英文資料除存在語言、文化與語用的翻譯誤差外,也有部分英譯文無法貼近外國旅客文化背景,不利閱讀,於此,本文也提出改善建議。本論文針對台灣旅遊資料翻譯問題進行了初步的研究,希望能為台灣日後的旅遊資料翻譯提供參考與研究方向。
In recent years, the global tourism industry has flourished rapidly, increasing the need for tourism information in English. Most English-language information about tourism in Taiwan has been translated from Chinese source texts, resulting in a variety of translation problems. The majority of previous studies regarding problems in the translation of tourism information have been done in mainland China; work in this area by Taiwanese researchers has been limited. Most research on tourism translation has emphasized “inter-cultural communication” and “translation techniques.” Some scholars have conducted research based on German translation theory, including the “text type theory” of Reiss and the “Skopos theory” of Vermeer. The present study was undertaken in order to address the translation problems that arise in production of English tourism websites, specifically in Taiwan, where little previous research has been done. The study uses the “Skopos theory” to analyze the English translation of the Taiwan Tourism Bureau website, comparing the source text with the target text and evaluating whether or not the English translation conforms to the rules of “coherence” and “fidelity.” According to the analysis, the tourism website contains not only linguistic, cultural, and pragmatic translation errors, but also phrases that have no context in the cultural backgrounds of foreign visitors. This paper provides a preliminary discussion of the English translation of the Taiwan Tourism Bureau and should serve a reference for future study.
