This research integrates the advantages of technology into weight control programs, and considers how to enable elementary students to participate in weight control plan effectively and continuously from the view of strengthening weight loss motivation. The research tool is based on the "Healthy Weight Loss Platform" from National Taipei University of Education in 2015 which was developed for the promotion of health for college students. We consulted with the school’s nutritionists, nurses, and health team leaders to understand the relationship between the design of weight loss platform’s function and the motivation of losing weight in elementary school students. After evaluating the feedback from teachers and students to find out what elements the weight loss platform should have, we developed a new platform for elementary school students according to the habit of using. A total of 45 overweight elementary school students were invited to participate in this study for 2 months. They were randomly divided into three different incentive strategy groups. Additionally, each group was applied two different recording methods during the research period. Each method was applied for one month. A weight loss motivation questionnaire with a seven-point scale was applied right before the exchange of recording methods and at the end of the reseach period. Data processing was performed using SPSS 25 suite of statistical software for descriptive statistics, t test, single factor variation analysis and mixed two-factor variance analysis. Additionally, qualitative interviews were used to further understand the impact of weight loss platforms on students' motivation. The results of the study showed that among obese school children in grades 4-6, regardless of the degree of obesity, there was no significant difference between weight loss motivation for different genders and ages when using the weight loss platform. Additionally, the daily recording method can improve the weight loss motivation but there is no interaction between the incentive strategies and the recording methods on weight loss motivation. In sum, the healthy weight loss platform proves to be helpful to increase the weight loss motivation of obese elementary school students in the process, and also causes the weight loss and the decrease of BMI.
