隨著電子科技的不斷進步,TFT-LCD(Thin Film Transistor Liquid Crystal Display;薄膜電晶體液晶顯示器)應用非常廣泛,在生活中處處可見,如手持裝置、影音裝置、車載系統、工業使用、軍事使用,對於目前的趨勢朝著低耗電、高畫質、高解析度發展。 液晶材料若長時間下使用直流電壓驅動,將會造成物理性永久破 壞,所以在液晶顯示器為避免液晶被破壞使用的方法為正負極性交替,當同一行的薄膜電晶體打開時進行充電,充電的極性若高於CommonVoltage(共電壓)則為正極性,低於Common Voltage(共電壓)則為負極性,不管是正極性或是為負極性對於顯示出的灰階是相同的。 極性驅動方式在現行薄膜液晶顯示器與畫面串擾現象(Crosstalk)和消耗功率相關,串擾現象為同一個畫面中一個顯示區域被另外一個顯示區域干擾所造成;其消耗功率與IC輸出電壓的變動頻率與變動電壓大小有相關,本論文對驅動IC的業界常用的三種極性驅動方式Column inversion、Dot inversion、2 line Dot inversion討論,並對其結果作比較。
With the advances in electronic technology, the TFT-LCD (Thin Film Transistor Liquid Crystal Display) has been widely used everywhere in life, such as hand-held device, audio-visual device, automotive system, industrial use, military use for the current trend towards low-power, high-quality, high-resolution development. The liquid crystal material will cause permanent physical damage if it uses a DC voltage driver for a long time. To avoid this kind of destruction, the LCD driver has to operate in alternating between positive and negative polarities all the time, which is called as an inversion drive mode. That is, the thin film transistors in the same row begin to charge until they reach certain common voltage threshold. It is named as positive polarity if the voltage is higher than the common threshold, while named as negative type if the voltage is lower than the common threshold. Either positive or negative polarity for the display gray scale is the same. There are several problems for inversion drive mode in the present TFT-LCD, such as crosstalk and power consumption. The crosstalk phenomenon occurs when two different display areas appear in the same picture caused by interference. The power consumption is related to the variations of the IC output frequency and voltage. In this work, three common drive modes of the driver IC, Column inversion, Dot inversion, 2 line Dot inversion, will be studied.
