Violin Pitch Training System by Game

Violin is hard to learn. A novice has to face many challenges among which the meet difficult is to play the right pitch. But teachers cannot always accompany novices when they are practicing. Novices often are not able to determine whether they are practicing the right pitches. Practicing the right pitch is fine, but practicing the wrong pitch is harmful. To conquer this problem, this study presents a violin pitch training system by game. We employ pitch tracking algorithm to extract pitches played. The system employs pitch tracking to aid beginners to revise their pitches. Our system provides the practice mode and game mode, regulating the finger’s position on strings in real time. After the practice, the game can also determine whether pitches are correct or not. Through the game, the system can understand the beginner’s learning situations, and revise beginners’ accuracy of fingers’ positions on the string.
