Web-based Chinese Handwriting Learning System for Foreign Users

摘要

我們提出系統來使用網址或者電子檔當作中文字學習教材。使用者可以使用滑鼠點他們想學的中文字。在學習中的時候，他們可以看eStroke提供的筆劃動畫以及雅虎線上字典提供的單字。最主要的是本系統可以提供使用者作寫字的練習而且當使用者畫的每一筆，系統馬上給回應。當發現筆劃錯的時候，系統會告訴使用者哪裡不對，當使用者寫對的時候，系統會鼓勵使用者，給一些建議，有相關的字推薦使用者去寫。我們也有做測試來證明我們的系統非常有用尤其增加使用者的中文手寫的能力，而且我們系統設計很簡單所以每個使用者很快就拿手。

We proposed a system that allows users to control website’s URL or text file as content. Users can highlight any character they want and start to learn by looking at the stroke animation provided by eStroke and character definition provided by Yahoo! dictionary. The most important part is that the system lets users to practice their handwriting and the system will give immediate feedback as soon as the user finishes each stroke. The system will tell users which mistakes they made or give supportive comments when they did well. We also have experimental results that prove that our system is very useful in improving Chinese handwriting skills and that our system is user friendly enough to let users quickly learn how to use it.
