This paper uses 2000 census in Taiwan to discuss the impacts of sibling, including the effects of gender and educational attainment, on children’s educational attainment. The analysis samples are the youngest children in a family with two or three. First, we discover that having a firstborn brother is likely to decrease children’s educational attainment, no matter for family with two or three children; however, in the families with three children, the gender of second child has no significant impact on the educational attainment of youngest female children. Additionally, the educational attainment of sibling has positive effect on other sibling. Higher education on older siblings is related to higher education on younger children. And in the families with three children, the educational level of the second child has higher impact on educational attainment on the youngest child than the oldest child do. Moreover, this study also find that female’s opportunities to obtain higher education are slightly higher than male. This showed that the educational attainment of female has commonly got beyond of male.
