拼貼法應用於角色造型設計創作研究─以山海經神祇為例

摘要


近年來動漫美學興盛,不只在我們生活的環境當中隨處可見漫畫、動畫、遊戲等影像,甚至在各大展場及專題討論中也不乏相關討論與展出。然而,在製作一個成功的動漫或是遊戲作品之前,卻不能不先進行人物角色的設定。動漫文化仰賴故事情節吸引消費者,角色可說是整個情結的推動者,而引人注目的角色造型更能替作品加分,角色設計的重要性自是不言而喻。 當今科技媒材不斷的發展,電腦影像科技的進步重大的衝擊著視覺創作的環境。特別是具備3D技術的作品,讓許多人憂心平面創作將會收到嚴重的威脅。然而現階段我們卻發現,即使市面上已經有了眾多3D製作,2D風格鮮明的作品卻依舊受到人們的喜愛。事實上,在實務中三D人物的角色設計在初期也仍需仰賴平面的角色設計為最初發想前置作業打下基礎,許多的3D作品也多從2D動漫而來,搭配日趨成熟的電腦技術,便能將兩者的特質平衡。 拼貼技法能含括平面手繪圖像與真實影像、立體作品之間的特質,將不同元素進行重組,賦予新的意義。筆者之所以選用拼貼作為角色設計的表現手段,便是希望能利用拼貼手法的自由性與真實影像的介入,在實作中擴充角色設定的表現層次,並以此風格進行山海經神話故事的角色設計創作。

In recent years, the esthetics of animation and comics has been popular. Comics, animation, and games can be found everywhere in the surroundings; moreover, related discussions and displays are also available in every major exhibition and seminar. However, before the production of a successful work of animation, comics or games, it is necessary to deal with the design of each character. The culture of animation and comics depends on the story to appeal consumers, and the characters can be the key to push the plot forward. The eye-catching design of a character would definitely make a work more attractive. Therefore, the significance of character design is self-evident. The constant development of contemporary technologic materials and the improvement of computer graphics technology both make great impact on the environment of visual design. Works with the application of 3D techniques especially make many people concerned for the 2D creations being severely threatened. However, at present stage, it is found that 2D works of strong style remain popular even though numerous 3D productions have appeared in the market. In fact, in the execution aspect, the design of 3D characters at the initial stage still relies on 2D character design as the foundation of inspiration and preproduction at the very beginning. Many 3D works are also created from 2D animation and comics; with the use of increasingly sophisticated computer skills, the characteristics of the two can be balanced. Collage covers the features of 2D hand-painted graphics, real images and 3D works, creating a new meaning through the recomposition of different elements. The reason why collage is selected in this research as the method to present character design is that character settings can be further displayed on various levels in real works with the flexibility of collage and the involvement of real images. This style is then employed in character design of the myths in Shan Hai Jing (Collections of the Mountain and the Sea).
