The theme of the thesis is to conduct a research on the grieving experiences that three male adults have faced due to the death of parent. By telling the stories of loss would help us to better understand the thoughts of male adults toward the loss of their beloved one, to realize the content of grieving and the impacts on the grown man. The participants of the research include three male adults. The study method of the thesis is narrative research. The researcher utilizes Holistic-content approach to present the life theme of the male adults who experience the loss of parent. Moreover, in order to further realize the content of grieving, Categorical-content approach has been applied on the purpose of data analysis. The result of the study is shown as follow: The study has been discussed in six sections—Death, Loss, Cause of death of parent, Meaning of the death of parent, Self-determination of Mother to death, Relations between loss event and male adult survivor. Participants’ perceptions to content of death could be changed due to multiple factors. Male adults who suffered loss resulting from death of parent are more likely to hide their sorrow when telling their stories. They tend to deal with their bereavement by merely readjusting their own cognition or by receiving emotional support from others instead of facing sorrow directly. Most of them have chosen to be a so-called “protector” in the family and usually have shown their love for the family through “behaviors”. From perspective of social support system, phenomenon of cognition providing and secondary attachment forming has simultaneously appeared among family members. Speaking of impact of the loss for the participants, their reactions to self-concept, family dynamics, general inter-personal relationships, other possible loss events afterwards have been discussed in the research as well. At last, the researcher has shared some refinement in her thinking and has proposed several new areas of discussion based on the process and result of the research.
