留白思維運用於社會議題海報之研究創作

摘要

留白是中國傳統繪畫中的表現手法，用來營造出虛實相生、無畫之處皆成妙境的意境，平面設計也可以運用留白思維，達到良好的版面效果。留白不是顏色的探討，而是圖與地構成的認知；透過觀者的聯想與解讀，強化作品的想像空間與視覺渲染力。
本研究以留白思維為題，藉由文獻分析探討留白的發展起源與其視知覺原理等相關資料；並彙整近十年海內外平面設計競賽中，入圍以上之留白思維作品進行蒐集與案例分析，其分別為《美國科羅拉多國際海報雙年展》2011/2013/2015、《日本富山國際海報三年展》2009/2012/2015、《墨西哥國際海報雙年展》2012/2014/2016、《芬蘭拉赫第國際海報三年展》2011/2014/2017、《波蘭華沙國際海報雙年展》2012/2014/2016與《臺灣國際平面設計獎》2013/2015/2017。主要得出海報圖形構成要素、色彩計畫、版面編排與作品平均留白率67%之數據。本研究進一步透過參考文獻與案例分析之結論，以留白思維運用在社會議題的海報進行創作；為力求呼應當代最為人議論的社會議題，故以2017年Google Trend統計出的全球前十大熱搜新聞事件，將其劃分為「颶風橫掃」、「比特幣熱潮」、「拉斯維加斯槍擊案」、「朝鮮半島局勢變化」、「曼徹斯特恐怖攻擊」、「長頸鹿危機」的主題內容，以六項議題發展成系列海報之創作。
希冀透過中國傳統繪畫中的留白思維與現今發生的社會議題，以視覺轉化與簡化的設計，打破嚴肅的議題，使人們以不同視角關注在社會周遭發生的事物上。

The blank-leaving is an expression in traditional Chinese painting, which is used to create a wonderful scene without painting anything. In graphic design, it can create good layout effect by using the virtual and real space. The blank-leaving is not a discussion of color, but the cognition of figure-ground. Through the association and interpretation of the viewer, the imagination space and visual rendering power can be strengthened.

This research uses blank-leaving as the topic. After searching related literatures about the development of blank-leaving and its visual perception principle, I integrated winning poster using blank-leaving above Colorado International Invitational Poster Exhibition, International Poster Triennial in Toyama, The International Biennale of Poster in Mexico, Lahti Poster Triennial, International Poster Biennale in Warsaw, and Taiwan International Graphic Design Award from 2009 to 2019. I analyzed the elements and blank-leaving percent of winning posters. After studying reference and case data, I use Google Trend Top 10 Global News in 2017 as the topic of poster design for responding to current events.

I hope to transform social issues into simplified pictures and words by posters, which using blank-leaving, so the viewers can better understand the meanings behind and pay more attention to these issues.
