The research was to investigate the trade development and the international production disintegration trends of Taiwan’s traded electronic products. The product mix index and the product turnover index are computed, which are constructed from the CES model built by Yang and Liao (2004). The product mix index is used to measure the structural change of product contents, and the product turnover index is used to measure the rate of entering new product areas in terms of dropping out of old products. The t-test is then conducted to analyze the performance of the industry in the sample period of 1989-2007. The results show that Taiwan’s major trading partner has changed from USA to China. For the information and communications products, the product mix index is deteriorated. But for the products of electronic parts, both indexes are constantly improving. The results of the test show that Taiwan electronic industries gradually towards the production of intermediate goods. The vertical production integration among Taiwan, United States, China, and Japan has been promoted the development of intermediate goods trade. However, the product turnover of the imported wafer products from USA and Japan are deteriorated. The performance of the electronic products imported from or exported to China is relatively better.
