The research is to investigate the programs in universities and practices in industries about the management of technology (MOT) in Taiwan. Survey in universities shows professors who both theoretically and practically expert in MOT are not many. Besides, the contents of MOT taught in universities varied significantly. Most of the contents focus on the high-tech management rather than on the management of technology, which should also be applicable in traditional industries. For further identifying the needs for MOT in industries in Taiwan so that the universities may adjust the teaching programs, a questionnaire survey related to the application in industries was conducted for gathering opinions from the practical viewpoint. The result indicates that although most of the sampled industries do not appropriately apply MOT, they do posses high expectation on the MOT training in universities. This reflects the importance of MOT in education and training in universities. It also shows there are still large rooms for MOT to develop both in universities and industries.
