Notes on Nodes – Placemaking in the Design Learning Process

摘要


對於建築空間的理解,最簡單的方式則為實地走訪一遍,但是容易流於表面的路徑形式,而忽略了人們進到建築之後與環境產生的連結。其實在路徑上本就存在著一些片段,特別使人有所感知、格外有吸引力、或經常會成為群眾匯集的焦點。筆者於此引用Kevin Lynch提出的「節點」概念,來解釋這些空間與時間上的段落,並延伸至不同尺度的設計之中,嘗試使其能更有彈性地適用於各式層面。 本論文揀選過去的四件作品,聚焦在各案空間節點的場所特性,並繼續推演其設計發展。在此基礎上,參照原始設計既有之基地、機能、材料…,進而置入一或多個新的局部設計。過程使用速寫手法,累積空間場景的建立,試圖以使用者的觀點促成設計的形成。最後,希望透過筆者對作品新的詮釋,訴說自身經過時間經歷與實習訓練之後,此刻對於建築設計的理解。

To understand the space of an architecture, the simplest way is to actually visit it. But it’s also likely to be only knowing the paths, and ignore the connection between people and the environment after they entering the building. In fact, there are already some fragments on the path, which are especially perceptible, particularly attractive, or often become the focus of mass gathering. The author here quote from the concept of "node" proposed by Kevin Lynch to explain these special parts in space and time, and extends to different scale designs, trying to make it more flexible to apply to various levels. This thesis selects four works in the past, focusing on the characteristics of the nodes in each case, and continues to develop its design. On this basis, referring to the existing site, functions, materials, etc. of the original design, one or more new partial designs are then placed. The process uses sketching techniques to accumulate the establishment of spatial scenes, trying to facilitate the formation of the design from the user's perspective. Finally, hope that through the author's new interpretation of the work, I will talk about my understanding of architectural design at the moment after my own time experience and intern training.
