This study aims to explore the multicultural issues in the primary schools Chinese Language textbooks of Taiwan and Hong Kong, using content analysis to examine race/ethnicity, gender, nationality, social class, religion, and exceptionality/ nonexceptionality based on Banks’ framework. The analysis indicated multicultural issues and perspectives were found in both textbooks of Taiwan and Hong Kong, but mainstream-centric concepts still dominated most contents of them. In details, Taiwan’s textbooks focused on race/ethnicity in the world, gender-balanced, affirming underclass and the difference of mainstream religions, while Hong Kong’s textbooks emphasized on her own multiethnic society, overthrowing gender stereotype and folk religion. It is worth noting that national identity and local identity were the most unique senses in the textbooks of Hong Kong.
