In response to the problem of high expatriate job hopping rate and short term tenure which leads to a weak organizational commitment in schools around China, the study investigates the phenomenon of organizational commitment among foreign ESL teachers employed in International Schools in Guangzhou. The intent of this study is to gain a deeper insight and understanding into the issue of organizational commitment, as it relates to key aspects of modern school management, organizational culture and leadership development in China. To evoke and strengthen organizational commitment among ESL-teachers, the schools are given some recommendations at the end of the study: to develop programs of ESL-teachers adaptation in the culture and langue via training sessions; providing counselor’s help at schools; encouraging ESL-teachers to collaborate with Chinese and foreign educators in order to cultivate professional communities of practice.
