Based on the Ecological Systems Theory of Bronfenbrenner, the study aimed to examine the effects of parental attachment and peer relationship on adolescents self-esteem and deviant behavior. Utilizing structural equation modeling, 2,664 junior high school students participated in the wave 3 of Taiwan Youth Project in 2003. The results revealed that: first, the proposed model indicated a reasonable goodness-of-fit. Second, parental attachment had direct effects on self-esteem and deviant behavior; self-esteem had direct effect on deviant behavior. Third, parental attachment had indirect effects on deviant behavior through the mediating effect of self-esteem. Fourth, there was a significant correlation between parental attachment and peer relationship. Implications and suggestions were discussed and provided to junior high school students, their parents, and future research.
