「臺灣島圖」圖像在臺灣意象之設計表現研究

摘要

近年來臺灣意識與本土文化漸漸受到重視，其相關的藝術設計研究也成為不可忽視的議題之一。本論文以具有臺灣意象之「臺灣島圖」圖像為主要探究對象，使用文獻分析、歷史研究以及田野調查等研究法進行研究，探討在不同時空背景下的臺灣島圖圖像有哪些表現手法、象徵意義與其內在脈絡，以建立相關圖像資料與歷史文獻資源，提供設計學術、設計教育及設計創作之運用和參考，並藉此探索臺灣社會的文化現象、流行思潮與審美觀，期能運用設計歷史資源，塑造屬於臺灣的設計文化特色。

本研究之主要結果歸納如下：
一、具臺灣意象的圖像可分為自然、人文、藝術、美食以及心靈臺灣，其中自然風景中的臺灣島圖是最能有效傳遞臺灣意象的圖像。
二、臺灣島圖在不同時空背景下的臺灣意象，具有不同的政治意涵，分別為殖民意象、統一與臺獨等象徵意涵。
三、「臺灣島圖」圖像在不同的設計媒體中，依圖像構成可分為由基本元素組合、以許多其它物件構成或是使用其他形似臺灣島圖之物體借喻為臺灣等表現手法。
四、臺灣島圖圖像常以紅、藍、綠、黃等色彩呈現，象徵性各具不同意義，其中臺灣島圖的顏色運用常具有政治意象，代表各政黨之色彩。
五、「臺灣島圖」圖像之符號運用，同一個符號義可由不同的符號具代表，而同一符號具亦可傳遞不同的符號義。

本研究之建議如下：
一、文化單位應將各階段之代表性設計作品與其文獻資料，為臺灣文化資產與設計資源建立數位化典藏資料庫。
二、教育單位應增強臺灣人對臺灣意象之圖像認知，並提升臺灣人的審美能力、文化涵養以及民族自信心。
三、設計業者應注意國內外設計發展趨勢，並從歷史文化與生活中發掘設計思緒，表現出具民族性、地域性與時代性的設計作品，以達到臺灣設計風格塑造與文化特色建構。
四、後續研究可針對各類臺灣圖像作一時代性且全面性的設計歷史與文化探討之研究。

In recent years, Taiwan consciousness and the local culture have got more attention, and the research of art designs that are related to these concepts become one of the issues which tolerates no overlooking. This thesis will mainly focus on discussions on Taiwan Island Symbol which embodies Taiwan Image by employing documentary analysis, historical research and field research, examining the ways of expressing Taiwan Island Symbol, the symbolic meanings, and internal contexts. This is to establish graphic information and historical resources in order to provide references for design research, design education and design production and show their application. Furthermore, Taiwanese local culture, popular culture and aesthetic conceptions can also be explored. Through exploiting historical resources of design, the characteristics of design culture that uniquely belong to Taiwan can hopefully be shaped.

Research outcomes are as follows:
1. Images that encompass Taiwan Images can be divided to nature, humanities, arts, cuisines and spiritual Taiwan. Among these, the Taiwan Island Symbol in natural sceneries is the one which conveys Taiwan Image most effectively.
2. Taiwan Island Symbol has different political implications in different historical backgrounds and in Taiwan Image. The symbolic meanings are colonial image, Taiwan and China’s reunion and Taiwan independence.
3. The composition of Taiwan Island Symbol images in different design media can be divided to composition based on combination of basic elements, composition based on various elements or composition based on using shapes that are similar to Taiwan to metonymize Taiwan.
4. Images of Taiwan Island Symbol are often presented with colors such as red, blue, green and yellow. All of them show different symbolic meanings. The colors employed in Taiwan Island Symbol images are also often associated with Politics, representing different colors of different political parties’ logo.
5. The symbols used in images of Taiwan Island Symbol can be replaced by a different signifier, and the same signifier could also convey different signified.

Research suggestions are as follows:
1. It is suggested that governmental departments of culture should establish electronic database for Taiwan cultural heritages and design resources which encompass representative works at different historical stages.
2. Educational departments should strengthen citizens’ understanding of Taiwan Image pictures, and also to improve people’s aesthetic conception, cultural accomplishment and ethnic confidence.
3. Designers should pay attention to national and international design trends and discover design ideas from history and life so that design works could display nationality, regionality, and period representativeness and achieve shaping Taiwanese design style and constructing cultural characteristics.
4. Future research could investigate contextual, overall design history and culture, focusing on various kinds of Taiwan images.
