1954年羅馬假期在臺灣上映時,也將偉士牌帶入了臺灣,並掀起一陣購買的熱潮,當時甚至熱銷到缺貨好幾個月。但曾經風光一時的偉士牌,為何大量消失在街頭或成了路邊的廢鐵呢?這一段消逝的偉士牌歷史,長達50年的時光漸漸被人遺忘,甚至很少被人提起,書面資料也非常稀少,大多只能從口語相傳得知。 因深刻體會偉士牌與人們感情的回憶故事,以這段即將被遺忘的歷史作為創作題材,不但繪製一系列長幅的圖像歷史插畫,並紀錄偉士牌在臺灣的興衰歷史。為完整呈現偉士牌在臺灣從1954年至今的歷史,本創作運用長幅畫作的形式發揮搭配東方特有散點透視以及豐富的構圖法,以不同的畫面、視覺空間感、車輛與人物造型等多元面向,將數個不同的時間與空間串起,完成了長達32公尺的插畫創作。希望讓觀者能了解在不同的時空下偉士牌與人們的關係,也挑戰自我能力的極限。透過本創作研究,加上圖像紀錄的方式,將勾起一段令人難忘的回憶,並開創臺灣機車工業圖畫歷史創作的首例。 希望透過此創作讓大眾了解偉士牌在臺灣的興衰之旅,未來藉由本創作搭配偉士牌相關活動,豐富宣傳老車文化內涵,讓更多人能關注偉士牌這陪伴臺灣成長的老夥伴。
The splendid black and white movie, Roman Holiday, introduced Vespas into Taiwan when it was in theaters in 1954. Thousands of fans around the island would form a crush to snap up Vespas and they were out of stock for many months. However, why did the glamorous Vespa disappear in the street and even turn to scrap metals at the side of a road? The gradually forgotten and unfamiliar history was last for 50 years, which was also rarely written down and only has been passed down orally. The artist deeply realized that a Vespa scooter was not only a machine but also a carrier with stories and memories, and created a long series of illustrations of the graphic history around the subject as a record of the rise and fall of Vespas in Taiwan. To present the history from 1954 of the Vespa in Taiwan completely, the illustrations were 32 meters long with a spectacular multi-point eastern perspective and plenty of elements, based on diverse images, perspectives, scooters and character designs to illustrate different time and spaces once for all. With profound research and graphic records, the artist fully recreated the history of the Vespa in Taiwan as a whole. As a challenge for the artist to compose, the series would show the audience the diversity and the relationship between people and the Vespa in different contexts and at different times. Hoping these images and would start an unforgettable trip of history for more people to know the rise and fall of Vespas in Taiwan as the first piece to illustrate the history of the Taiwanese scooter industry. The series is for public to understand the vicissitude of Vespa in Taiwan. In the future, it could be involved in relative Vespa marketing activities, enrich the connotation of the historical icon, and attract more people to pay close attention to Vespas, the old pal which accompanies Taiwanese to grow up for so many years.
