Military EMT offers emergent medical help to service members and rescues injuries when disasters or mass casualty incidents happen. The purpose of this study is to understand the relationship between workplace stress, occupational burnout and job satisfaction of military EMT and improve the work performance. This study investigated the relationship between workplace stress and job satisfaction of service members revealed workplace stress had significant negative influence to job satisfaction. The variables of workload, role conflict, organizational climate, personal development and emotional labor were therefore hypothesized to have negative impacts on job satisfaction of military EMT in this study. This study included the military EMT from medical troop of southern region and effective sample was 91 out of 112. Questionnaire survey and focus group were carried out simultaneously including quantitative and qualitative analysis. Questionnaire survey contained structured questionnaires of “personal information”, “scale of workplace stress” and “scale of occupational burnout”. 8 interviewees composed of officers, sergeants and soldiers from medical troop of southern region were invited to focus group to understand different perspective of military EMT. Workload, role conflict, organizational climate, personal development and emotional labor had significant correlation in quantitative analysis. However, workplace stress and job satisfaction failed to reach significant difference level. Even though workload and pressure, in focus group, the military EMT had better job satisfaction than other troops for the factors of work environment, salary and achievement.
