ABSTRACT
This thesis is divided into five chapters. outlines the artist’s creative motivation, background, and field of expertise. discusses Freudian theory & symbolism. And 19th century painters Odilon Redon & Henri Rousseau as the theoretical basis. analyzes the artist’s work in terms of symbolism of colors, association, textures, creative skills & forms. Furthermore, discusses the impact of the paintings of Taiwanese temples indicates a series of personal works which were created from 2011 to 2015. They are: “The Glamour of Flowers”, “Lost in Fantastic Green” and “A Symbol of The Heart”. provides a summary of the point of view of the artist’s creative process as a life-enrichment and self-healing journey.
The majority of works are combinations of graphic oil paintings and semi-three dimensional mixing media, including pulp, gypsum powder, and resin glue, which used to create volume and texture. A combination of acrylic paint, gold powder, oil paints, and caulks is also used in the production.
The main purpose of all creation and research is to express the fusion of Chinese and modern western concepts of inheritance and innovation. The artist has a mental exploration through an analysis of the self’s subconscious. And the artist also describes life issue with creations when encounter with “sorrow be separating , laugh be together, and the experience of hardship in life”. The artist transcend the experience of pain into self-elevation and realization. Metaphors and symbols are mentally transformed, and eventually metamorphosed into the energy of artistic creation and be brave to embrace the dreams for the future.
