We reported a 5 year-old boy with a fused tooth of the maxillary primary left canine. This fused tooth is composed of a primary canine and a supernumerary tooth, which is similar to a primary lateral incisor. The prevalence of supernumerary teeth in Chinese reported by Morioka et a1 (1991) is 0.44%, was calculated excluding mesiodens. Fusion has an incidence of 0.5% and is more common in the primary dentition (Grahanen and Granath, 1961). Fusion occurs most common in the anterior teeth. When present in the primary dentition, fusion usually occurs in the mandibular lateral incisors and canines. Supernumerary tooth fused with a normal tooth has rarely been presented.
