摘要

乳臼齒過早脫落造成齒列空間喪失以及恆臼齒向近心方向移動，是兒童混合齒列期所關心的問題。大部份的牙科學生都被教導使用空間維持器來避免齒列空間喪失是必需的。然而，臨床上有許多乳臼齒過早脫落的情況與差別存在，而不都有相同的結論。許多齒列空間喪失的研究大多有 cross-sectional、不足的樣品數以及粗糙的實驗方法等缺點。本文的目的在(1)複習以前有關乳臼齒過早脫落的研究，(2)檢視與討論各種不同乳臼齒過早脫落的狀況，其齒列空間之變化。

The premature loss of primary molars resulting in space loss of dental arch and mesial positioning of the permanent molars is a great concern during the mixed dentition. Most dental students are taught that using a space maintainer for the premature loss of primary molars is mandatory in order to avoid space loss. However, it appears that many situations and differences exist clinically, which do not seem to have the same conclusions. Many reports dealing with space changes were based on cross-sectional data, limited sample size, and crude methodologies. The purposes of this article were (1) to review the previous researches concerning premature loss of deciduous molars, and (2) to examine and discuss the various aspects of space changes after premature loss of deciduous molars.
