Traditionally, the classification of vascular anomalies has been complicated and variable. Recently, according to the characteristics of endothelia cells, vascular anomalies were divided into two categories: hemangioma and vascular malformation. This new biologic classification has been helpful in diagnosis and treatment and in stimulating further research. The following report describes a special case, a large capillary-venous malformation over lower lip and face. The pathologic finding was cavernous hemangioma. After clinical and laboratory examinations, including complete blood count, coagulation screen and angiography, partial resection and lip reconstruction was performed. A favorable result, both esthetic and functional, was achieved.
